Times Table Rockstars
Please encourage your children to use the Times Table Rockstars website each week. On the 'Garage' and 'Arena' sections, the algorithm gets to know your child and which times tables they are already comfortable with as well as the ones that they need more practice on. It will ensure that the questions they get are a good mix of these two categories so that your child makes the best progress possible with their times tables.
Reading
Please read with your child as often as you can. Although many children in Year 6 will be comfortable reading by themselves (and please do encourage that), it is still important for older children to be heard reading aloud to an adult and for them to get an opportunity to share their reading and their thoughts about books with a parent or guardian.
Arithmetic practise
Some parents have expressed that they would like to help to prepare their child for KS2 SATs. The arithmetic paper below is similar to the SATs maths paper 1. If you would like your child to practise at home, they could answer a few questions from this paper each day on a piece of paper. Additionally, continuing to access TTRS and practising quick recall of times tables and other number facts (such as number bonds to 20 and 100 and halves and doubles) will really help.
