Bikeability

Balanceability

Some children in Foundation stage, who cannot yet ride a bike, will also get the opportunity to take part in 'Balanceability'. This module uses games and balance bikes to equip children and prepare them with the basic balance and co-ordination skills. The aims of the balance module are:

· Provide children with positive early experience of using bikes.

· Improve children’s cycling skills and awareness of their surroundings.

· Develop children’s balance and control skills in preparation for learning to cycle.

· To teach children to identify different parts of a bike

Bikeability

Children in Year 5 can have the opportunity take part in a 'Level 2' bikeability course. Bikeability is the national cycle training programme supported and funded by the Department for Transport. The course builds the skills and confidence of children who can already ride. Bikeability can not only make children better cyclists - potentially for the rest of their lives - but can help with general confidence and independent thinking.

All of our Bikeability training is delivered by qualified, professional, DBS checked National Standard Instructors. Visit www.bikeability.org.uk for more information
