Narrative Writing - The Journey
Please continue creating actions to retell the whole story.
Todays activity is detailed in the documents below:
What is a compound sentence?
Compound sentences are formed when two main (independent) clauses are linked together using a co-ordinating conjunction - often called FANBOYs conjunctions.
What is a coordinating conjunction?
A coordinating conjunction is placed between words or phrases of equal grammatical value. You use coordinating conjunctions when you want to give the same amount of emphasis on two main clauses or want to compare two related ideas in one sentence.
A good tip for checking to make sure that you're using coordinating conjunctions correctly is to read the words after the use of one of the FANBOYS. That sentence should be able to work as a stand-alone phrase.
